Cannot access Mii channel on Korean Wii

Mii Channel

For those who use Korean Wii and cannot enter Mii and Photo Channel, like “You can’t access this channel“. Heres the solution, remember, do it on your own risk.

In my case, i found that there is multiple channel installed. Mii Channel Korean and US, Photo Channel Korean and US, News Channel Korean, US and Europe. Its not appear in Wii Channel, but we can see it through file manager. Maybe thats why you can’t access Mii and Photo Channel. I didn’t test News Channel cause i don’t have internet connection in my Wii.Requirement:
1. SDCard
2. Home Brew Channel

Step:
1. Download channel file manager
2. Extract
3. Copy folder Channel File Manager to folder apps in SDCard
4. Insert SDCard to wii, turn it on
5. Go to HBC -> open Channel File Manager
6. Press A
7. Choose Wii NAND
8. Choose System Channel Titles
9. Choose which file you want to delete. See reference below.

—————————————————————–
HAAx Photo Channel
HABx Shopping Channel
HACx Mii Channel
HAFx Weather/Forecast Channel
HAGx News Channel
HAYx Photo Channel 1.1
—————————————————————–

x=”Region/Country”

K=Korean
J=Japann
A=America
E=Europ

note:
I found 2 file HAC, HACA and HACK, i delete HACK
then HAYK and HAYA, i delete HAYK

after deleting that file, press home button to return to Wii main menu. The channel you delete must be dissapear, in this case Mii and Photo channel, even there still Mii and Photo channel in US version. Don’t worry, turn off your Wii and turn it on again, and your channel appear back. Now you can access Mii and Photo channel from your Korean Wii. Good luck

    @emi:
    Really?? AFAIK, theres nothin wrong connectin US wiifit to Korean wii.
    I’m not sure, cause i don’t have wiifit.
    Maybe, you need to upgrade some IOS or CIOS. What is your wii firmware version?

    ****I found 2 file HAC, HACA and HACK****

    How come you only found 2 files? you found 3 files not 2 :o

    Be careful everyone it might brick your Wii:)>-

  6. JOKERz March 19, 2009 12:01 pm

    @IYOT:
    I said i found 2 file HAC. And that is HACK and HACA.
    Please read carefully. :-b

    If you do it correctly it will not brick your wii.

    i did everything that you advised in order to use the mii channel, i deleted the channels then i turned off the wii but the channels wont come back

  11. JOKERz April 7, 2009 8:01 pm

    @confuzed:
    Which channel did you delete?
    Do not delete all HACx files, remember to leave 1 HACx files.

  12. confuzed April 7, 2009 9:59 pm

    HACK and HAYK thats what i deleted…i just need to know how to get my mii channel and photo back

  13. JOKERz April 7, 2009 10:27 pm

    @confuzed:
    Before you delete it, did you see any duplicate HACx and HAYx??
    How to get it back? Get it from wii shop channel.
    Please read the tutorial above carefully. And i write it above, do it on your own risk.

  14. confuzed April 7, 2009 11:27 pm

    there was only 4 files HABK,HAAA,HACK,HAYK.

  15. JOKERz April 7, 2009 11:40 pm

    @confuzed:
    If theres no duplicate, then why you delete it?
    Don’t you read the tutorial above?
    In my case and other people that success use my tutorial above, is because there is duplicate HACx files. Thats why we need to remove it to make it works. If you didn’t find duplicate HACx file, then your case doesn’t same with me.

    If you want to make your file back, try go to shop channel.
    I don’t know, is it possible to copy it from my system.
    I’ll tell you tomorrow.

    Worked like a charm for the Mii and Photo channel. Great!

    I have one more problem with my KOR Wii. I am unable to access the Settings page. When I enter the settings page it shows a white screen with a “.” and then “..” on the next line. Anyway to fix?

  17. JOKERz April 14, 2009 3:14 pm

    @Harshal:
    You got semi-brick dude. [-(
    Try to fix it…

  18. Harshal April 16, 2009 7:57 pm

    Yes I realised that. I just fixed it yesterday. Here’s what I did. http://www.wiihacks.com/general-homebrew-hack-issues/14726-mii-settings-issues-jap-wii-backup-loader.html

  19. JOKERz April 16, 2009 8:08 pm

    Well, congratulation and thanx for putting my name. I really appreciate that :)>-

  20. Wii_Novice April 22, 2009 10:23 am

    Hi,
    You seem to provide a very precise and laconic feedback to all your posters. Appreciated!!

    Coming to my problem, I am unable to access any channel on my Wii (except the disc channel, HomeBrew Channel and Backuploader gamma channel). Upon clicking on these channels (Mii, Photoshop) from my wii menu, the whole TV screen sort of blacks out with a sole line in centre – “THIS CHANNEL CANNOT BE ACCESSED”. On going into Wii settings -> Data Management, I am able to see only Backup loader channel and HBC channel installed on my Wii.

    I have purchased a South Korean Wii (data file management says its 3.2U or something) and it shows Disc Channel, Mii Channel, Photoshop Channel (1.1), Wii shop Channel, Weather Forecast Channel, Homebrew Channel in the startup Wii menu (The one that appears when I start my wii).

    Is my case different than yours? Am i looking at the right place on my wii? In the eventuality of my case being different from yours, what would you suggest me in order to access mii and photoshop channel?? Thanks a lot in advance :)

  21. JOKERz April 22, 2009 10:38 am

    @Wii_Novice:
    Try my method above. But do not delete the files if there is no duplicate files.
    If there duplicate files (2-3 channel) exist, try to delete just 1 channel. Restart and see the result. If it fail, Stop it.

    Hope it work

  22. Wii_Novice April 22, 2009 3:53 pm

    Thanks a lot JOKERz for the prompt reply. Just wanted to ask one more “dumb” question to you. How can i check whether my Wii’s an NTSC or a PAL? Its a South Korean Wii.

    Sorry to ask you this but since the manual that I have got is in Korean language (I suppose its Korean), I cannot turn to it for resolution of this query.

  23. JOKERz April 22, 2009 7:27 pm

    @Wii_Novice:
    Go to setting. See at the top right. theres firmware version.
    Its vary 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, or 4.0 and theres letter at the end.
    If you have “u” for USA (NTSC) “e” for europe(PAL)

  24. vrock May 19, 2009 3:33 pm

  26. JOKERz May 19, 2009 9:47 pm

    @vrock:
    How can i know what type is your card if i didn’t see it? [-(
    Btw you can Look at here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SDCard

    what i mean “do it at your own risk”. Well, if your Wii brick after following tutorial above, don’t blame me. :)>-

    hey thanks :)>-

  28. vrock May 20, 2009 1:06 pm

    hey i have one more queston could you please tell me what to delete? :-?

  29. JOKERz May 20, 2009 2:32 pm

    @vrock:
    You don’t need to delete anything if you didn’t find any duplicate file i describe above.

  30. jm May 20, 2009 10:09 pm

    thanks man worked like a charm dude thanks i owe you my life. Coz i just bought a new korean wii and i really wanted to make my own mii :)>-

  32. Tin June 1, 2009 8:16 am

    Hi JOKERz. Glad to have found your tutorial. Will do try to follow your instructions later when I get home and hope it will fix the issue on my Mii channel.

  33. JOKERz June 1, 2009 10:19 am

    @Tin:
    Yeah, hope it works. And read the instruction carefully. Don not delete anything if you don’t find any duplicate file.

  34. Vinoth June 4, 2009 2:02 am

    Man, you’re the best. It worked like a champ. Thanks for posting it.

  36. IT June 7, 2009 5:32 pm

    Hi Guys,

    Download link to the Channel File Manager seems to be dead. Where can I get a link?

    Cheers!:d/

  37. JOKERz June 7, 2009 10:13 pm

    @IT:
    really? Ok, here’s new File Manager link for you

  38. IT June 8, 2009 2:46 pm

    €JOKERz:
    Thanks for the quick update. However Channel File Manager now gives an error message “Retrieving device contents. Please wait… ERROR ret = -1″

    A quick search on the web focuses on the type of SD card, but I have used 1GB regular SD card with FAT partition. I even tried an old 16MB SD card, with no success.

    I am wondering if it is related to HBC or my Wii hardware. :(

  39. JOKERz June 8, 2009 3:46 pm

    @IT:
    AFAIK “Error ret = -2″ is because i don’t have some CIOS installed properly, not the SD Card, maybe “-1″ is the same. Sorry im not sure of it, its been long time.

  40. IT June 8, 2009 11:09 pm

    I gave up on Channel File Manager and used “Any Title Deleter MOD” and deleted the Korean Mii Channel like you said.

    Worked like a charm.

    Thanks a Million!

  41. JOKERz June 8, 2009 11:38 pm

    @IT:
    Glad it work for you too. Anyway, do you mind to share where to download “Any title deleter MOD” here?
    So other people may use it too.

  42. IT June 9, 2009 2:35 am

    Sure thing. Actually the original program is called Any Title Deleter, but someone modified it so that the names of the files are more understandable. I downloaded it from:

    http://wiibrew.org/wiki/AnyTitle_Deleter/AnyTitle_Deleter_MOD

    Best of luck to everyone… :d

  43. JOKERz June 9, 2009 5:06 am

    @IT:
    Thanx for sharing

  44. ICE June 18, 2009 1:56 pm

    Channel File Manager is working just fine.. IT the error is that your not choosing Wii NAND.. The manager retrieves from your sd card instead.. Use right arrow to choose wii nand.. :)>-

    anyway.. thanks JOKERz :d

  47. JOKERz July 6, 2009 6:01 am

    @new2wii:
    Theres many site out there offer download for free.
    No, you dont need dual layer dvd. AFAIK only Mario Super Galaxy and Super Smash Bros Brawler use dual layer dvd.

  48. mimi July 23, 2009 4:30 am

    Hi !! very good post !! It works !!
    I have another problem, my disc channel never works : can’t read the disc…
    I don’t know if it’s a problem on wii from korea ?
    I can load my games in the homebrew channel that means my dvd rom works fine.
    Do you have any idea ? Thank you

  49. JOKERz July 23, 2009 5:18 am

    @mimi:
    Yupz, nintendo use region lock. You can only play korean games with disc channel.
    Thats why you need channel like Gamma Loader.
    There’s a way to make disc channel work. I already try it.
    What i do is installing starfall and some cIOS and IOS.
    Sorry i forgot the step, so i can’t tell you the detail.
    The risk is very high. You can brick your Wii, if something goes wrong.

    I already sold my Wii console 4 months ago, so i don’t read any news about Wii anymore.
    As far as i know there’s more simple step and more safety to make Disc Channel work.
    Try to googling with “softmii” or “soft mii” keywords. Goodluck!

  51. mimi July 23, 2009 12:05 pm

    JOKERz :
    I stopped at the step 5, I see nothing when I go to HBC, I can only press home button then either reload, about, or exit. Cant see Channel file Manager.
    Thanks in advance for your help.

  57. Tanet September 12, 2009 5:16 am

    Thank you so much JOKERz.
    YES’ it works on my Korean Wii too.
    It took me half an hour to figure out step=by-step carefully due to some confusion and the lack of my own confident.
    ie. I couldn’t find Wii NAND at the beginning and I was too afraid to press anything if it wasn’t look 100% like your instruction :p
    Anyway, I got it finally.
    Thanks again.

  58. lee September 15, 2009 6:35 pm

    hi, this may seem like a really stupid question. im a noob with this whole wii mumbo jumbo. do i need to connect the homebrew channel to the internet before going through the whole process or can i do it offline?

    thanks

  59. JOKERz September 15, 2009 8:27 pm

    You can do it offline

  60. lee September 16, 2009 12:32 pm

    hi, i tried doing it online and offline. when i access the HBC, i cant seem to find any more options instead of going back to the home menu. is my sd card not loading the files? what do i need to do to my sd card for it to be recognized by my wii?
    thanks again

  61. JOKERz September 16, 2009 4:46 pm
  62. lee September 24, 2009 2:46 am

    is there a way where i can download the mii channel agagin and not from the wii shop cuz i cant update the wii

  67. JOKERz October 1, 2009 11:36 am

    @Ecko:
    try to find the mii and photo channel files again and copy it in your system, maybe you can copy it from your friends wii or try googling it.
    Sorry can’t help you, coz i don’t have wii anymore.

  68. Forseti October 4, 2009 9:24 pm

    I had this problem because I had Korean channels but only the US ones would load on a korean Wii after modification. You can download the channels using NUSD, install them using channel file manager, then delete the duplicate korean one when your done, reboot the Wii, and it works.

    Tested on 3.2U modded Korean Wii.

  69. Dokapox October 6, 2009 11:12 am

    thanks for the tip JOKERz, i think it really is a semibrick
    i’ll try fixing it tomorrow
    hope it works

    again, thanks a lot! :d/

    If you dont have duplicate files you can delete the korean channels
    HACK & reinstall mii channel with Mii Channel Updater or WiiSCU
